The DCM-M1 records digital video with MPEG2 (real time) encoding like DVD, and ATRAC audio together! Combined as the Video MD format.

• 1/4" CCD Imaging System: CCD chip has 680k pixels for stunning detail and clarity.
• Video MD format: Up to 20 minutes of digital recording in the Video MD format provides digital video quality, 3x color band width (vs. VHS) and significantly higher S/N ratio, to provide stunning video performance.
• Stores up to 4500 still images: record up to 4500 still images on a removable MD Data Disc 2. This storage far exceeds any other digital camera. Images transferred to the PC end up as 640 x 480 VGA JPEGs.
• Audio recording: You can store up to 260 minutes of digital audio on one MD View disc with ATRAC encoding.
• Disc Based direct Access: Think of it! No fast forward. No rewind. Go to the exact segment of video that you want instantly.
• MD Audio Playback: Plays back MD recorded and prerecorded MiniDisc.
• Scene Shuffle: PC free non-linear editing. Scenes (Tracks) are recorded in a "non-linear" format allowing you freedom to arrange and re-arrange your scenes in the playback and edit modes.
• Personal Java 2.0 powered graphical user interface (GUI): An "On Screen" touch panel system that allows you to easily navigate through the camera's menu system.
• Drawing Layer Effect: using the supplied "stylus", you can free hand draw on top of your still images or video for a personal touch or special look.
• Edit Mode: Move, copy, trim, erase, divide and group any video scene
• Ethernet connectivity: quick and easy way to transfer the still/moving images from the camera to your computer via the ethernet port using your web browser as the interface. Netscape or I.E. 4.0 or higher required.
• 10X Optical/40X Precision Digital Zoom: Helps bring the action close up from far away. Digital Zoom improved interpolation technology means that extreme digital zooming is cleaner and clearer than ever before, with less blocking and distortion than most other types of digital zoom.
