Semi-Professional Digital Video Camera with Super Picture Quality!

The DCR-VX2000 mini DV camcorder, the successor to the popular DCR-VX1000 -- a staple of the independent film community -- now offers improved picture quality features and the option to capture still images either direct to Memory Stick media or from a single frame of video footage. Still images are saved in 640 x 480 (VGA) image size, making them useful as "still video grabs" during filming or for transferring into documents, e-mails, on-screen presentations or to other peripheral devices. The supplied Memory Stick USB reader allows for fast and easy Memory Stick media connectivity to virtually any PC.

The high-quality 2 ½-inch plasma LCD screen enables the DCR-VX2000 to playback recently shot footage for on the spot editing and re-shooting decisions. With this new addition, users now have the option to film with the high quality, 180,000-pixel color viewfinder or the 200,000-pixel plasma LCD. In addition, the LCD displays battery life information and tape time remaining in minutes.

Advanced 'HAD' CCD Technology
High quality HAD design CCD imager that reduces noise in the video signal to improve signal-to-noise ratio by up to 2X that of conventional CCDs. Particularly effective when shooting in dark situations.

Progressive Scan CCD System
Progressive Scan CCDs capture a complete frame of video rather than interlacing two separate fields to produce a video frame. This high performance system eliminates the stair stepping effect that can be seen in standard interlaced systems when capturing still images. Images will be sharp and clear with excellent definition.

Up to 530 Lines of horizontal video resolution
Using 3 Advanced HAD CCDs combined with advanced design technologies, the DCR-VX2000 provides stunning performance of up to 530 horizontal lines of resolution.

Optical Super SteadyShot® Picture Stabilization
Eliminates high frequency shake and vibration without compromising picture quality. Uses motion sensors and optical lenses that do not change or degrade the quality like some other stabilization systems.

16:9 Widescreen recording
Allows the user to record in a true 'widescreen' or "letterbox" aspect ratio. When used with a 16:9 widescreen compatible TV the camcorder is able to Display a similar aspect ratio to that of popular films without having to crop off the top and bottom and losing important data and resolution.

1/4 to 1/10,000 Shutter Speeds (AE Mode)
Allows the user to customize Shutter Speed settings for almost any environment to ensure the best possible picture or to achieve a desired effect.

Interval Recording
Allows the user to record video in preset intervals that range from every 30 sec, 1, 5, 10 minutes for selectable lengths of .5, 1, 1.5 or 2 seconds.

Frame Recording Modes
Allows recording of any individual frame of the 30 frames that make up one second of video.

LP Recording
Enables up to 90 minutes of recording on a 60-minute Mini DV cassette.

6 Picture Effects
For creative enhancements, choose from Slim, Stretch, Solarization, Monotone, Sepia and Negative Art.

5 Digital Effects
Provide expanded digital creative effect options. Choose from Old Movie, Luminance Key, Flash Motion, Still, and Trail.

Manual Controls
Allows the user to manually Zoom and focus; select shutter speeds and exposure; and adjust microphone record level to achieve optimum sound quality

Still Imaging Features:

Memory Mode Digital Still camera function using Memory Stick® Digital Media
Capture VGA resolution (640 x 480) still images and store them on removable Memory Stick storage media. A 4MB Memory Stick supplied.

Memory Mix
Allows the user to superimpose a still image that has been recorded to a Memory Stick on top of the video you are recording. There are three different effects in the Memory Mix Mode:
