ColorStream Pro and Digital Cinema Progressive

ColorStream Pro component video output allows the highest quality signal to be sent from your DVD player to your TV. When this connection is utilized, typical NTSC artifacts (like video noise and dot crawl) are virtually eliminated, resulting in a low-noise, highly detailed picture with unequaled color purity. Digital Cinema Progressive (3:2 Pulldown) delivers the smoothest, most film-like images to any progressive scan television, such as an HD-compatible one, and ensures maximum resolution.

Outstanding Audio

Coaxial and Optical TosLink Digital Audio Outputs send the audio signal to an audio/video receiver in its digital form, allowing access to the Dolby Digital or DTS sound track encoded on the DVD disc. The Dialogue Expansion system (E.A.M.) offers three audio-enhancing modes: NORMAL; 3-D provides virtual surround sound from two-speaker playback systems via Spatializer N-2-2; and DIALOGUE enhances center channel frequencies during playback of Dolby Digital encoded discs via the analog audio outputs. This is perfect for times when you need to keep the volume low, but still want to hear what is being said.

Hardware Progressive Scan

The SD4900 features Hardware Progressive Scan, which offers a better picture quality than most other players. Many newer players have software progressive scan which gives a lower picture quality than the Toshiba SD4900 with its hardware progressive scan.

With the JPEG Viewer you can display your digital photographs (JPEG format) on your TV. An intuitive onscreen display is there to assist you in creating customizes slideshows with a few simple clicks of the DVD player's remote control. The 16x Power Zoom lets you select an area of the picture and zoom in on it. You can also use the Power Zoom to expand letterbox-only films to increase the viewable area onscreen. Enhanced digital processing known as 3D-DNR reduces random noise in DVD images. It does this by comparing the present frame to the previous and succeeding frames. Unmatched information that is above a certain level is identified as video noise and removed. This improves the picture quality of Video CDs, poorly mastered DVD films, and images viewed in Zoom mode.
