Boasting an advanced Wide XGA High Resolution panel, the Plasma WEGA MX series provides superb resolution. The panel accurately enhances incoming signals for superior picture quality, which is much better than that of VGA panels.
WEGA ENGINE is an intelligent picture enhancement system, fully compatible with analogue and digital broadcasts, DVD, Memory Stick and other input signals. WEGA ENGINE dramatically enhances image clarity through seamless Full Digital Processing. It also uses DRC-MF V1 (Digital Reality Creation) technology to upgrade signals from a wide range of sources to near High Definition quality. In addition, it offers unique Image Integration to reproduce and display true-to-life images.

Delivering superb picture quality from various signal sources by minimizing the number of analogue-to-digital conversions, Sony's proprietary WEGA ENGINE maximizes picture performance by reducing noise and enhancing details. The innovative systems of WEGA ENGINE are outlined below:
Composite Component Processor 2 (CCP2)
The heart of the WEGA ENGINE, the CCP2 minimizes the number of analogue-to-digital conversion and maintains the quality of incoming video signals with seamless digital processing.
Digital Reality Creation (DRC)
Using unique digital map processing, this technology recreates television signal waves into high precision waveforms similar to High Definition signals. High-density images can be produced, even when coming from standard broadcasts or video signals. With the new DRC-MF V1 Palette function, viewers can also enjoy complete control over the level of DRC-MF effect, allowing viewers to make adjustments based on signal condition and personal preference.
Multi Image Driver (MID-X)
Vertical and horizontal edges are enhanced through this integrated image processing circuit. Using Sony's unique digital algorithm, images of greater depth and definition are produced.
Digital Component Processor (DCP)
This technology enhances the overall contrast and sharpness, by fine-tuning the signal before the image is displayed on the panel.
Panel Driver IC
Sony's unique Panel Driver IC realises high definition and gamma specifications, enhancing contrast in low brightness range. This results in better contrast and greater depth in a picture.
