Super Pro-Optic System

Sony's Super Pro-Optic System is an innovative system for rear projection TVs, using the essence of advanced CRT and optical technology.

• New Micro Beam CRT - Improves picture brightness. Sharper images even at the corners.

DRC 1050

Sony has devleloped a unique digital-signal processing algorithm that improves picture resolution by doubling both the horizontal and vertical resolution in real-time. With the recreated, double interlaced scanning lines and horizontal pixels, picture density improves tremendously and the visible scanning lines are significantly minimized. DRC 1050 is optimal for viewing general broadcast programs and pre-recorded movies on digital media such as DVDs and digital videos.

DRC Progressive

Leveraging on the DRC 1050 technology, DRC Progressive uses a field-doubling technology that maintains 525 vertical interlaced scanning lines for NTSC signals but increases the horizontal pixels from 720 to 1440. It is ideal for viewing still images from digital cameras and videos, and text and multimedia from televisions connected to Web-enabled terminals. The result is smooth moving images and stable, flicker-free still images which are more gentle to the eyes.

New Improved Digital Quick Focus

Unwanted vibration during movement or the day to day physical environment can throw Projection TV's colours out of alignment resulting in smearing and blurred images. The new Digital Quick Focus, exclusive to Sony's Wega Projection TVs, realigns the CRTs with a simple touch of a button, in an astounding 4 - 6 seconds.

Multi Image Driver

Sony's new Multi-Image Driver, available on the EF34, incorporates many of the same digital editing technologies used by television broadcast stations. The result is unprecedented versatility when controlling on-screen images to suit personal viewing tastes. Basically, the key MID capabilities are:

• Programme Index - allows you to preview up to 12 channels simultaneously and 1 central moving channel at a glance. For incredibly quick and convenient channel surfing.
• 2 Tuner PIP - the digital Picture-in-Picture enables you to watch two screens at the same time. By utilizing two built-in tuners it lets you watch two TV programmes or a TV programme and video, even from different systems, at the same time through the P-in-P subscreen.
• Twin PIP - allows you to view 2 separate pictures side by side on screen and then expand (zoom) either the right or left image up to double its normal size.
• Favourite Channel - the same flexibility is available to viewers who want access to their favourite channels at the touch of a button. The Wega allows you to programme up to 7 channels in running numerical sequence making channel selection even easier.

DVD Component Input

The ES series comes with a DVD component terminal that allows for input of component signals directly from DVD players, producing far superior results than the composite signal and S-Video signals.
