Sony's New DR Series WEGA TV with Digital Reality Creation Technology

Digital Reality Creation - Multi Function (DRC-MF)

In addition to the revolutionary FD Trinitron technology, the DR Series WEGA is equipped with Digital Reality Creation - Multi Function (DRC-MF) to deliver clear, bright and vivid images. Developed by Sony, this ingenious technology converts analogue signals to HDTV-like signals, recreating normal incoming video signals to produce pictures that are dramatically smoother, more realistic and beautiful.

DRC1250

Sony's original and unique advantage of digital-signal processing doubles both the horizontal and vertical density in real-time, resulting in superior picture quality where visible scanning lines are significantly minimised. DRC1250 is ideal for viewing general broadcast programmes and pre-recorded movies on digital media like DVDs and digital videos.

DRC Progressive

During interlaced scanning, even lines (from the even field) and odd lines (from the odd field) combine together to give a total of 625 lines for a frame. The "memory effect" causes viewers to see these two fields as a complete frame. However, the flickering between these fields can tire the eyes. Progressive scanning improves on the old interlaced scanning by converting interlaced signals into progressive signals to eliminate annoying line-flickering. In addition, DRC Progressive goes beyond this by scanning all 625 lines and doubling the horizontal pixel count to 1440 pixels. This not only eliminates line-flicker but also provides increased clarity for displaying text and subtitles, which require finer detailing.

3D Digital Comb Filter*

The added analysis and correction - by combing not only horizontal and vertical lines, but also diagonal lines, result in sharper picture quality with less noise. (* Applicable to NTSC signals only. For PAL signals, Digital Comb Filter is applicable.)

3-Dimension Noise Reduction (3D-NR)

3D-NR enhances the picture quality of TV or video sources that carry weak signals, delivering noiseless, clear and crisp pictures.

DVD Progressive In

This additional terminal enables the DR Series WEGA to accept either progressive or interlaced signals from video sources, such as a DVD player, with progressive outputs, assuring reproduction of images more naturally and with greater details.

New Generation WEGA Design

The DR Series WEGA is framed with a high-gloss quality finish that provides a smooth and graceful surface. Combined with a contemporary TV stand (optional), its contour design exudes a look of total sophistication. The new generation WEGA unique design is all part of Sony's efforts to create the perfect environment for pure visual and audio entertainment.

Complete Control

The DR Series WEGA Remote Control is specifically designed to make navigation of various features quick and easy. With the new direct access buttons, users can select and access the Picture-in-Picture channel selection directly while displaying the main screen. Users can also easily access high picture quality of DVDs and Wide Mode sources directly by using the Remote Control.
