Your France cell phone number will be dynamically assigned to your cellular phone once you arrive in France by simply following the instructions outlined below:

Customer service for your France Mobicarte prepaid SIM card is available 24 hr./day by dialing 722 at any time from your France cellular phone or 0892 701 722 from a landline phone in France.

When calling overseas from the United States to your France cellular phone number callers will need to dial 011 followed by the country code 33 and then your France cell phone number, omitting the first 0 (zero). To call abroad from your France cell phone simply dial 00 followed by the country code and phone number.

Your SIM card will include an initial airtime credit to start you off, however to credit your France SIM card with additional airtime, you will need to purchase mobicarte recharge cards. These scratch cards may be in purchased in 15 €, 25 € or 35 € (includes 45 € of credit) Euro denominations at most convenience stores, tabac shops and petrol stations throughout France.

Mobicarte recharge cards are available at face value and so a 15 Euro airtime voucher will cost you 15 Euro and subsequently will credit your Mobicarte SIM card for 15 Euro.

Domestic rates are per minute for outgoing calls within France from your France SIM card while you are in France. All incoming calls regardless of where they originate are free with your Orange Mobicarte France SIM card.

Your Mobicarte SIM card allows you to choose from between 2 calling plans however the default Classique plan is usually best. Per minute airtime rates, which vary depending on which airtime voucher you purchase, are as follows:

There is no Peak or Off-peak time, from your cellular phone with the Mobicarte SIM card.

International rates are per minute for international outgoing calls originating from your cellphone in France with a France SIM card, while you are in France. All incoming calls regardless of where they originate are free with your France SIM card.

Currently you can use your prepaid France SIM card outside of France in 19 countries around Europe and the West Indies. The 19 countries are split into 2 zones and 2 different rates apply for each zone. International roaming with a France SIM card is not the cheapest but it can be convenient if say you cross into Switzerland or Germany for a weekend. This way you don’t have to buy a new SIM card for just 2 days in a new country.

Mobicarte airtime credit will expire every 2 months, however incoming calls can be received for up to 8 months. If the credit is not used in the 2 months, it is lost. If the mobicarte is not reloaded at least once every 8 months then the SIM card and accompanying phone number will expire.

Cellular coverage in France is excellent, far exceeding typical cellular coverage in the US.

Long National Paths

Often called sentiers de grande randonnee (or GRs for short), long national paths are mapped clearly and connect points together so you'll be able to get from one GR trail to the next easily. GR trails cover around 38,000 miles of France and are typically blazed (or marked) with red over white (sometimes include yellow). GR trails are also numbered as GR2, GR5, etc.

Regional Paths

Regional paths (also called GRPs) cover and circle a particular region, and are only mapped when the trail is very long. GRP trails cover about 25,000 miles of France and are typically blazed with yellow over red.

Local Paths

Local paths (also called PRs) will direct you outward from towns and villages. You might try one of these trails if you want to tour a particular spot or attraction. PR trails cover more than 47,000 miles of France and are typically blazed with yellow only or other single colors if there are multiple paths.

GR and GRP trails cross paths in every region, which makes it easy to walk long distances from one village to the next while visiting France. You can view vineyards, orchards and forests along the way, and even stop for a stay at a hotel or bed and breakfast in one of the villages as you travel.
