However for a long term stay there is no more of an economical solution then acquiring a local prepaid SIM chip.

Activating Your Service:
Like most prepaid SIM cards, the service is preactivated, with your cell phone number printed on the outside and interior of HopAbroad packaging. Your cellular phone number will begin 377 (the country code for Monaco).
With your SIM car inserted you can always dial *108*03# [SEND] to display your mobile phone number on the cell phone LCD.
- Be sure that battery is charged
- Insert the HopAbroad SIM card into the mobile phone
- Turn on your phone
- Enter the PIN Code (default 0000) [SEND] *
- You are now ready to make and receive calls
* The PUK is only required to unblock you phone if you enter in a PIN code incorrectly. Your default PIN code is 0000. Follow your cell phone manual instructions to correctly use the PUK to unblock your phone along with PIN2.
When calling from the United States to your Global cellular phone number, callers will need to dial 011 followed by the country code 377 and then the remainder of your HopAbroad cell phone number.
To Add More Talk Time:
You may credit your HopAbroad SIM card with additional airtime and keep your prepaid service globally active by purchasing a voucher code for $65 ($50 airtime credit) or $120 ($100 airtime credit). Contact us to purchase an additional airtime voucher.
To add call credit from your mobile phone simply:
- Enter *115*13-digit-voucher-code#
- Hit the [SEND] key
- Repeat the procedure as many times as required
To check the airtime balance simply:
- Enter *147#
- Hit the [SEND] key
- Your Phone LCD will display the account balance

How to Make an Outgoing Call:
To make an outgoing call with the HopAbroad you will dial this number sequence: *111*, followed by the country code and phone number that you want to dial, then add the # key and hit the [SEND] key. Then YOUR cellular phone will ring (strange, we know) and you will answer (that’s right) by hitting [SEND] again to pick up. Finally put the phone to your ear and the call will be connected. So your dialing sequence will look like this:
- Dial *111*country-code-phone-number#
- Hit the [SEND] key
- Your mobile phone rings
- Hit the [SEND] key again
- And you will be connected.
How to Receive an Incoming Call:
Just like at home…when your phone rings simply press the [SEND] key and you’re connected.
Remember that your universal cell phone number is based in Monaco and if folks calling you are not on an international plan then you may want to sign-up for our international calling plans.
Coverage/Roaming List:
Please make sure your cell phone's NETWORK SELECTOR is set to 900/1800Mhz when using the phone outside North America, and is set to 1900MHz when in North America. You can change the network setting via the MENU on your phone.

* Due to technical regional incompatibilities the international roaming Hop SIM card may not work equally well across all GSM covered areas within the US. We has been able to receive and make outgoing calls, while roaming on the ATT network, from San Diego area, however, other subscribers in other parts of the US may not be able to receive and/or make outgoing calls even in GSM covered areas.

As service varies greatly outside Europe, we cannot guarantee service quality to non-European countries.
Service Life:
Your HopAbroad SIM card will remain in good standing so long as you credit airtime at least 1/year. If you fail to do the SIM card will expire, the phone number will be recycled and all remaining airtime credit will be forfeit.
Network Support/Troubleshooting:
The HopAbroad is capable of roaming on multiple networks within a single country. Consequently issues such as a weak signal or trouble completing an outgoing call may be quickly resolved by simply switching networks. However you will need to know how to use the Network feature of your cell phone to do this so crack open that manual (if you haven’t already thrown it out) and find out where and how to change the Network. It’s not difficult and only takes a minute to do once you know where this feature on your cell phone menu is located.
Because the HopAbroad is a roaming SIM card it is more susceptible to network disruptions than the local prepaid SIM cards. This typically only effects outgoing calls and may require you to make several dialing attempts to complete a call (you are not charged for this).
