We can also do DVD duplications and conversions. We can duplicate DVDs to the same video system (NTSC-to-NTSC, PAL-to-PAL), or convert the DVD to the alternate format (NTSC-to-PAL, PAL-to-NTSC). Contact us for pricing.
Notes:
A Tape-to-DVD Transfer means we will make a copy from your video tape to the DVD disc. A Conversion & Transfer means we will first convert the video system to the desired format (PAL-NTSC) and then record that new system to the DVD disc.
PAL DVD discs are playable in all PAL, PAL-N, PAL-M and SECAM countries. There is no such thing as a SECAM DVD disc and there never will be.
We do not transfer any form of motion picture film to DVD disc. We do not accept work from copyrighted tapes unless you are the copyright owner.
If you are not 100% satisfied with your order - for any reason -
we will be happy to make an exchange or refund (less original S&H).
Simply return the item to us within 30 days via Parcel Post, FedEx or UPS.
Transferring Tape to DVD
by Keith Kellett
I haven’t yet made use of all the features on my DVD/VCR combi, and probably never will use some of them. But, a particularly useful asset is being able to copy VHS tapes on to DVD and vice-versa.
This was of much value only recently, when I took part in a TV quiz show. My wife taped it, and, since it was shown on a satellite channel that not everyone subscribes to, just about everyone we know demanded a copy!
But, I hit a snag when I was making one of my ‘epics’ with Windows Movie Maker. I wanted to include some footage taken on my old camcorder, which isn’t capable of being connected to the computer. So, I thought the way to go would be to copy the tape on to a DVD, and from there, import it into Movie Maker.
However, while my new DVD would play back on the combi, the computer thought I’d fed a blank disc into the system.
‘Did you finalise the DVD?’ asked Bernie, my ‘computer guru’
‘Ah, Finalise??’
So, I made another DVD and ‘finalised’ it. ‘This’ says The Book ‘will enable your disc to be played back on external devices’.
But, it doesn’t enable it to be played back on a Hewlett-Packard Pavilion computer.
‘All I can suggest’ said Bernie ‘is that you have your tape copied to DVD using a professional service’
‘How much does that cost?’ I asked.
Bernie told me, and I decided I didn’t need to include the footage that badly. And, in the event, I was able to re-shoot the scene on my digital camcorder.
But, if you don’t have that chance … say, it was a once-in-a-lifetime shot, or you don’t have the technology to copy from tape at home, maybe it’s worth considering, to back-up your memories, even if you don’t want to share.
